1940s Steamy Vintage Encounter
Sun, July 2 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Due to popular demand our 1940s steam event is back with a bang for 2023 at the East Anglian Railway Museum.
Come and step back in time with us and experience what life would of been like during the 1940s.
Your admission will include unlimited steam train rides in our period coaches and wagons that would have seen extensive service during the 40s. Not only will you get to experience period train travel, you’ll also have access to unlimited rides on a vintage double decker bus, which is also included in your admission. The approx. 30 minute bus journey will take you in a trip to Bures railway station and back.
Feeling energetic? Our very fun and popular pump trolley will be in operation for you to try, and for an extra £15 on top of your admission, you can take the controls of our War Department diesel shunter and take it for a drive on our demonstration line.
Our friends from the Suffolk Regiment will be providing a range of skills, drills, displays and demonstrations throughout the day, as well as some photo opportunities! There will also be a exhibition of military and civilian vehicles.
Feeling Hungry? Platform Two Cafe (run by Stour Valley Catering) will be serving up 1940s style cream teas as well as other hot and cold food and drinks. Our very own minature vintage style pub ‘The Viaduct’ will be open from 11:00 serving a draft local beer, as well as a range of bottled beers, ciders wines and soft drinks.
