DESCRIPTION:Explore the dreamy possibilities of floral arrangements in this hands-on oil painting workshop inspired by the imaginative flower works of Odilon Redon. \nWorking from a specially arranged real flower still life\, you’ll create your own painting from observation while experimenting with expressive colour\, soft edges and atmospheric brushwork. \nRather than simply copying what you see\, you’ll be encouraged to let your imagination influence the colours\, mood and details of your painting\, transforming the flowers into something more personal and dreamlike. \nWhat to expect \nThe session will begin with a short introduction to Redon and his distinctive approach to floral still life\, followed by a demonstration showing how to choose a composition\, simplify the arrangement and begin building your painting. \nYou’ll then develop your own floral still life in oils with individual guidance\, exploring how soft and defined edges can create depth and atmosphere. \nYou’ll leave with your own dreamlike floral still life in oils and a deeper understanding of how observation\, colour and imagination can work together to create atmosphere. \nGood to know \nBasic materials provided. Food and drink is also available for purchase throughout the session from our cafés. \nThis workshop is suitable for ages 16+ and is suitable for beginners as well as those with some experience of oil painting. \nAbout your tutor \nDenisa Mansfield is an artist whose work explores expressive colour\, movement\, and emotion through the language of Impressionism and abstraction. \nShe works primarily in oils\, with a focus on how traditional methods can be reinterpreted in contemporary ways. Her practice celebrates curiosity\, creative risk-taking\, and the joy of discovery through paint.
