The New Cambridge Waits – Smash the windows!

Debut performance from a brand new Waits band…

In the late 16th Century records kept by Cambridge Colleges, there are regular payments to the Waits who performed at various functions: Christmas celebrations; mystery plays in chapels; royal visits; plays and comedies. There are also several other references to payments made immediately after such events (particularly the comedies) to the glaziers for replacing the smashed windows.
The New Cambridge Waits are delighted to offer you a programme of music on period instruments including many dance tunes that could have been the cause of such energetic, high-spirited tomfoolery. Please, please, do not smash any windows…
