From his earliest drinking experiences – pretending to be drunk after a sip of champagne aged five\, spraying aftershave into his mouth at the school play afterparty\, and university nights spent downing red wine alone in his room – to his last drink in 2022 and the journey into sobriety that followed\, John will explore our relationship with alcohol through reflections on decades of his own drinking. \nFormer Colchester Mayor Tim Young\, will host the conversation\, which will also include an audience Q&A.  \nJohn Robins is best known for his radio and podcast partnership with BBC Radio 5. DESCRIPTION:For our final Comedy Night of 2025\, we welcome the return of our regular MC\, Justin Panks! \nOpening the show on this occasion we have Laura Lexx – one of the best female stand up comedians to grace the stage. Crowd participation is a key part of her set\, but beware – Laura takes no prisoners with her brutal audience take-downs! \nNext up is Suzy Bennett – one of the most sought after comedians on the UK circuit\, with her warm and chatty stage persona. \nRounding off the evening is our headliner\, Funmbi Omotayo! Funmbi is a charismatic\, award-winning comedian and circuit headliner\, known for his global performances and natural charm. He’s supported stars like John Bishop\, appeared on ITV\, BBC\, Channel 4\, and Comedy Central\, and performed two shows at the Edinburgh Festival. \nBook ten tickets in one transaction and receive a pitcher of beer for your table.  \nDoors open at 7pm\, with comedy from 8pm. Bar food ordered after 7.40pm will be served in the first interval at roughly 8.30pm. Bar food orders will close at 8.45pm. \nOver 16’s only\, 16 – 18 year olds may attend at parental discretion.
