SUMMARY:Nicolas Meier World Group: "Jazz at the intersection of gypsy\, flamenco\, and the Middle East."
DESCRIPTION:“It’s jazz at the intersection of gypsy\, flamenco\, rock and the Middle East\, and it works really well.” – Jazz Views \n“Meier’s scintillating playing on assorted fretted and fretless guitars is sometimes reminiscent of Metheny or McLaughlin\, but with a highly melodic\, pan-Mediterranean eclecticism of his own . . . ” – The Scotsman \n“. . . the passion he has for his unique meld of Turkish\, Balkan and jazz modes make his gigs a vibrant experience.” – Jazzwise \nDrawing from a love of Turkish\, Eastern\, and Middle Eastern music\, flamenco\, tango\, and more — all mixed with jazz — Nicolas’ versatility and musical fluency extend far beyond these influences. His considerable talents drew the attention of rock guitar legend Jeff Beck\, who made him a mainstay in his group and took him on two world tours. \nHaving made a lasting impression on the legendary Bill Bruford\, the aforementioned Jeff Beck\, and Steve Vai\, Nicolas is unquestionably one of today’s most well-rounded\, ambitious and masterful talents on guitar. \nNicolas Meier (Guitars) Alex Hutton (Keyboard) Tom Mason (Bass) Demi García Sabat (Percussion)

SUMMARY:The Primitives
DESCRIPTION:Tickets £21.50.Doors open 7.30pm\, starts 8pm.This gig is for a standing audience. \nThe Primitives emerged from the UK independent music scene of the mid-1980s with a sound that distilled the shimmering guitar chime of The Byrds\, the buzzsaw style of The Ramones and 60’s girl group melodies into two-and-a-half-minute pop gems. \nAfter topping the indie singles chart several times\, their widely acclaimed first album\, Lovely\, made them one of the UK’s most revered alternative rock acts\, while the international success of the single “Crash” saw them cross over to a mass audience. Further chart success followed\, along with two more studio albums\, Pure and Galore\, plus extensive tours of Europe and the US\, before the band called it a day in 1992. \nIn 2008\, Mojo Magazine named The Primitives’ second single “Really Stupid” one of the top 40 greatest UK indie singles of all time. \nThe band were reunited in 2009 by the untimely passing of their original bass player Steve Dullaghan\, reforming to play a show in his memory later that year in their hometown Coventry; their first time on stage together for 17 years. Bolstered by the success of this and of a secret show in London\, they went on to tour the UK in April 2010\, followed by shows in the US and Europe. \nIn 2011 The Primitives released the Never Kill A Secret EP through Fortuna Pop! The record featured two brand new songs and two covers of female fronted pop obscurities\, the latter two being a taster for the covers album Echoes and Rhymes\, released on Elefant records in 2012. \nAn album of new original Primitives songs entitled Spin-O-Rama was released in 2014 and was showered with lavish praise; the general opinion being that it sounded like an alternative follow-up to their classic 1988 debut album Lovely. \nIn 2025 Elefant Records put out the double vinyl collection Let’s Go Round Again – Second Wave Singles & Rarities 2011 – 2025\, featuring new material along with all of the A sides\, B sides and other miscellaneous tracks that the band have released over the past 14 years. \nSince reforming The Primitives have toured the UK multiple times\, performed all around Europe and paid several visits to the US and Japan. \nThe current line-up of the band includes original members Tracy Tracy (vocals)\, Paul Court (guitar/vocals) and Tig Williams (drums). \nhttps://linktr.ee/theprimitives

SUMMARY:Departure - a Music and Dance Performance by Masumi Saito and An-Ting
DESCRIPTION:Departure is a music and dance performance by movement artist Masumi Saito and composer/musician An-Ting that explores themes of death\, ritual\, and the spirit. \nThrough the intertwining of movement and live music\, the performance creates an emotionally resonant experience – breaking the silence around death. Why do cultures across the world uphold long-standing funeral traditions? What can these rituals teach us about both death and life? \nIn Departure\, Masumi Saito and An-Ting reimagine a funeral ceremony inspired by their East Asian heritages as a performance and invite the audience to join in a contemplative space. \nThe performance is followed by a post-show discussion on death and ritual. Inspired by the ethos of Death Cafe\, this conversation offers space for audiences and artists to share experiences\, stories\, and perspectives\, exploring how traditions and collective rituals can shape the way we grieve. \nBiographies \nMasumi Saito is a movement artist\, mother\, and choreographer. She creates film works and live performances influenced by nature\, spirits\, and the Japanese way of being. She has presented her work at renowned venues worldwide\, including HOME Manchester\, ICA\, Jerwood Space\, and Kanazawa 21st Century Museum. The Nakanojo Biennale in Japan has commissioned her five times. At the heart of her creative exploration lies a profound inquiry into the relationship between self and surroundings. She delves into the depths of inner being with grace and authenticity\, inviting audiences on a journey of introspection and self-discovery. \nhttps://www.masumisaito.com/ \nAn-Ting 安婷 is a versatile composer and multidisciplinary artist whose work ranges from electronic music to immersive performance\, exploring the relationships between humanity\, nature and the spiritual realm. She led and co-created productions including Lost Communications (Norfolk & Norwich Festival\, Immersive Arts\, Brazil’s FILE Festival) and HOME X (nominated for UK Theatre Awards\, presented/co-commissioned by Barbican\, Theatre Royal York\, and Cambridge Junction). Between 2018 and 2023\, she served as artistic director of the National Portfolio Organisation Kakilang\,placing emphasis on generating new narratives by East and Southeast Asian artists and encouraging cross-artform collaborations. \nhttps://anting.co.uk

Rock & Roll meets Grunge as Elvis fronts Nirvana and gives the band the front man it’s been missing since ’94. Elvana tear through Nirvana’s catalogue whilst splicing in grunged up sections of the king of rock & rolls finest moments\, culminating in a whopper mash up of overdrive & old school Rockabilly. It smells like cheeseburgers and teen spirit\, daddy-o! \n= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = \nSale Dates and Times: \nPublic Onsale : Fri\, 18 Apr 2025 at 12:00 PM \nPresales: Wed\, 16 Apr 2025 at 12:00 PM
