DESCRIPTION:Sun Cutter aka Kevin Pearce is buzzed to announce the follow up to his 2022 debut\, an Album of the Week on Germany’s Radio Eins which also charted in Apple Music’s Top 10 in two different album categories. Chock-a-block with soul and folk-infused indie-pop\, Jupiter- sized choruses\, and yearning\, cinematic balladry\, Sun Cutter 2 is a lament to turbulent times\, beginning with a rallying call to shake it off and rise above it all. “All together we will stand and fight the darkness that has taken up our lives” Pearce sings on opener Union\, which has been playlisted by Radio X and has also found love on Mark Radcliffe’s 6 Music show. \nAccompanied by Gale Paridjanian (Turin Brakes) on sax\, Cecilia Fage (Matt Berry & the Maypoles) and the Stagecoach Children’s Choir\, the song is particularly poignant for Pearce since it features backing vocals from his close friend Simon Holliday\, the soundman for Stereolab and Mercury Rev who passed away prematurely last summer. \nOther collaborators on Sun Cutter 2 include Slowdive’s Rachel Goswell on ‘Mud Leaf’ and Michael J Sheehy on ‘The Spectacle’\, the latter nodding to Guy Debord’s The Society of the Spectacle\, albeit with one eye on modern media clickbait and doom-scrolling. \nStylistically\, sonically and emotionally\, Sun Cutter 2 covers plenty of ground\, offering hints of The Beatles\, Leonard Cohen\, Pink Floyd\, Cat Stevens\, Ennio Morricone\, Neil Young\, The Flaming Lips\, Massive Attack and Low\, with a shot of gospel for good measure. \nHe also recently released the educational synth-pop album\, The Sound of Science\, with members of I Monster \, as well as Sci-Fi Ballads for a Lost Generation on UK curio and oddities label Castles In Space.

Since his debut in the 1990s he has risen to become one of Britain’s most prominent jazz figures.  \nAn instrumentalist with a powerful\, straight-ahead style\, drawing on the best of the jazz tradition and in particular the inspiration of an illustrious forebear\, the late great Tubby Hayes (whose music he’ll be performing)\, he is highly popular attraction playing sold out gigs at the best jazz clubs and at virtually every festival of consequence with both his regular quartet and his star-studded big band. \nAs a recording artists he has released five well-regarded albums\, with his big band debut CD\, Dear Tubby H. With his band The Rumour\, Parker released a run of essential albums including Howlin’ Wind\, Heat Treatment\, and the undisputed classic Squeezing Out Sparks\, records that fused literate songwriting with the raw energy that helped reshape rock in the late seventies. \nThroughout the following decades Parker continued to evolve\, releasing acclaimed solo albums such as The Up Escalator\, Another Grey Area\, and The Mona Lisa’s Sister\, blending British rock attitude with deep roots in American R&B\, soul\, and country traditions. Rolling Stone once observed that Parker “owed more to Dylan and Van Morrison than to his punk counterparts\,” a lineage reflected in the emotional intelligence and biting wit that define his songwriting. \nApril 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of Parker’s debut album Howlin’ Wind. She has her own distinct voice that continues to evolve. \nRaised on the outskirts of Bratislava and born into a musical family\, Jana was immersed in music from a young age. As a child\, she was already performing traditional Slovak songs and went on to study classical music in Austria and France. In 2014 she became a flautist in the Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra in Czechia\, when she decided to pursue the career of a singer-songwriter and moved to London. \nCo-produced by Fred Mollin (Billy Joel\, Jimmy Webb) and nominated in the Emerging Artist category of the British Blues Awards\, Jana’s 2022 debut album\, Foreigner Face\, was described as a “fascinating mixture of styles and very original” by Paul Sexton (BBC Billboard) and “amazingly beautiful” by songwriting legend Janis Ian.​ \nJana’s subsequent headline tour introduced her music to a wider UK audience and saw her first international collaboration with the Varga Quartett Wien\, a noted Austrian classical string quartet based in Vienna and led by her brother\, Pavol. \nPerformances alongside platinum-selling artist Rumer and other esteemed vocalists have garnered Jana international acclaim. Notably\, in late 2023\, she graced the stage at the O2 Indigo as part of Rumer’s band\, captivating audiences both as an opening act and a key member of the ensemble. \n​Earlier this year\, Jana released Chicory\, which was described by one music critic as “rich in cinematic overtones”\, and she’ll be performing material from that eponymous album\, plus songs from Foreigner Face and material by iconic performers such as Joni Mitchell\, Paul Simon\, Dusty Springfield\, and Carly Simon. \n​For this intimate\, stripped-back show\, Jana is accompanied by pianist Sam Watts.
