SUMMARY:Two Doctors Walk into a Gallery: Gee Vaucher and Phill Jupitus in Conversation
DESCRIPTION:Gee Vaucher is an illustrator and artist and founder member of Dial House art community in Essex. Perhaps best known for her work alongside the band Crass\, she has been at the forefront of political art since the 1960s. Phill and Gee will discuss political art. \nAbout Phill JupitusPhill Jupitus drifted aimlessly onto national television in the mid 1990s after trying a number of different careers in the arts on for size. Unfortunately for him television was not that challenging\, quite comfortable and paid very well so there he remained until around 2019\, also along the way\, dabbling in film\, writing\, theatre\, music\, poetry and breakfast radio. \nHaving started as a self taught cartoonist/designer in the early 1980s\, he had often wondered if perhaps he had missed out by not undertaking a formal arts education. So he enrolled on a BA course at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee. Despite never completing the course he persists in making art to this day. \nHe has been made an honorary Doctor of Arts by both Essex University and the University of Kent\, and lives on the East coast of Scotland with his wife and an overly demanding Labrador.

DESCRIPTION:A Life of Crime \nIn conversation with author Mike Ripley\, over a glass of wine. Mike Ripley wrote his first novelon the train whilst commuting between Colchester and London. He has written a further 31 novels\, two works of non-fiction and a collection of short stories\, was a scriptwriter for the BBC series Lovejoy and edited two volumes of stories from the cult television series Callan. \nMike won the Last Laugh Award for comedy crime writing three times\, the Angel Award for East Anglian writers\, a Sherlock Award and the H.R.F. Keating Award for non-fiction\, for his history of British thrillers. He has appeared on stage for live audiences with\, among others: Colin Dexter\, Minette Walters\, Stella Rimington\, Sir Ian Rankin and Lee Child. As editor\, he re-published more than a hundred crime novels and thrillers which had gone out of print for Colchester publisher Ostara\, and developed a creative crime-writing course for the adult education department of Cambridge University. From 1989 to 2000 he was the crime fiction critic for the Daily Telegraph and from 2000 to 2008 for the Birmingham Post. He has also written on crime fiction for The Observer\, The Timesand The Guardian and for Radio 4.

When Hazel’s brother suffers a paralyzing accident she refuses to allow him to be Cycled. She finds a hidden group\, who refuse to adhere to the ships rules\, called the Cheaters.
