SUMMARY:Wonderful Wednesdays - In Bed with My Brother: Philosophy of The World
DESCRIPTION:Pay what you can afford \nDoors open 7:30 pm\, Show starts 8 pm \nThis show is for a seated audience\n\nRidiculed then revered\, The Shaggs defied categorisation. IN BED WITH MY BROTHER attempt to wrangle their story into a three-act biopic. Part tribute act\, part feminist reclamation\, part rambling flight of ideas. PHILOSOPHY OF THE WORLD is about fate\, freewill\, power\, patriarchy\, band t-shirts\, daddy issues\, and the best worst album ever made. It’s about who holds the power to define you – who gets to say whether you’re a legend or loser – who owns the right (and the rights) to tell your story.\n\nFeaturing questionable mime\, high-intensity dance sequences\, awkward crowd work\, stage combat\, cheap wigs\, jump scares\, philosophising and a well trained actor\, IN BED WITH MY BROTHER twists Rock ‘n’ Roll history into a sticky\, sweaty\, searing rebellion.\n\n'Rigorous\, intelligent show’ THE STAGE ★ ★ ★ ★ ★\n ‘The show is messy\, but every provocative decision is justified\, stacking up into a coherent\, caustic comment on the inescapability of the patriarchy’ THE SCOTSMAN ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ \n \n‘A wild and raucous assault-course emancipation… There are essays to be written about this show’ \nTHE LIST ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ \n \n‘Ear-splittingly loud\, raucous\, rambling\, thoughtful\, clever\, provocative and absolutely and utterly brilliant.’ WHAT'S ON STAGE ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ \n \n‘IBWMB have made a visceral\, uneasy but hilarious work of performance art that is both high-brow and accessible\, provocative\, honest and intellectual. SUMMARY:Blue Rose Code
DESCRIPTION:Tickets £20.Doors open 7.30pm\, starts 8pm.This gig is for a seated audience. \nFollowing headline performances in ‘24 at Cambridge Folk Festival and Gate To Southwell with his nine-piece Caley Soul band as well as a sold out bravura show for Celtic Connections at Glasgow’s 1\,400 cap Pavillion Theatre\, Wilson has spent the last few months reconnecting with his roots in live club performance. \nTouringin 2025\, the shows have workshopped new songs for 2026’s new Blue Rose Code studio album. The direction of travel seems to be closer to the broad Scots Folk/Singer Songwriter style that brought him to work with the likes of Karine Polwart\, Beth Nielsen Chapman\, Ewan McGregor\, to write for Steve Knightley\, and open for heavyweights like Van Morrison\, Deacon Blue and the Proclaimers. \nTonight Blue Rose Code appears in duo format. \n“A set of almost religious intensity and sincerity. Wilson makes widescreen soul in the spirit of Van Morrison\, and was full of the holy fire of live performance” The Times \n“Ravishingly beautiful\, a burnished blaze of Caledonian Soul\, muted jazz and poetic recitation” UNCUT \n“Jubilant\, prayerful\, compassionate\, Caledonian soul maestro Ross Wilson’s latest iteration of his Blue Rose Code band sees his songs bursting with heart” The Scotsman \n“An expert ensemble\, led by Edinburgh singer-songwriter Ross Wilson\, brought the spontaneity and informality of an after-hours pub session to the Pavilion Theatre. The effect was both stirring and meditative” The Spectator \n“One of the moments of this year’s festivals. Nothing short of sublime” The Herald \nhttps://bluerosecode.com/

SUMMARY:Katie Spencer The Washed Up Folk Band
DESCRIPTION:Tickets £12 / £11 concessions.\nDoors open 7.30pm\, starts 8pm.\nThis gig is for a seated audience.\n\n'Her articulate picking\, with suggestions of folk and jazz\, frames intelligently written songs’ – Guitarist Magazine \n‘Fresh as a sweet Sunday morning’ – MOJO ★★★★ \n‘A fine singer-songwriter\, and an excellent guitarist’ – Songlines ★★★★ \n‘A master-class of inspired and beautifully-sounding craftsmanship’ – KLOF \n‘One of the most distinctive voices in folk music’ – Folk London \n‘What Love Is is a triumph. Katie deploys her signature vocal vibrato to devastating effect’ – At The Barrier \nRaised in the East Yorkshire flatlands on the fringes of Hull (UK)\, Katie Spencer’s landscape has always been that of open skies and widening rivers. It is this sense of space and movement that flows through her assured guitar style and songwriting. Now\, as Katie steps into this new era with a third album\, her focus turns to those deeper inner spaces\, inviting the listener to engage with her heartfelt and intricately-crafted songs. \nHer writing\, and most notably her guitar playing stems from a time when the steel-stringed instrument was truly finding its voice. Artists like Joni Mitchell\, Judee Sill\, Julie Byrne and perhaps most evidently Michael Chapman\, weave into her sound. Katie absorbs these influences into her songwriting and with her distinctive deep vibrato and crystal-clear guitar style\, she makes the music inimitably her own. \nKatie released her third album What Love Is in October 2025; an intimate collection of ten brand-new songs produced by Matt Ingram (Laura Marling\, The Staves). It reached #12 in the Official Folk Albums Chart upon release. Recorded in London’s Urchin Studios and featuring prominent players Giacomo Smith (clarinet)\, Max Clilverd (pedal steel)\, Tom Mason (double bass) and Matt Ingram (drums\, synth). What Love Is evokes the spirit of Joni Mitchell’s finest later works\, always honouring without emulating. Lyrically mature and at times pastoral; the album is melodically sophisticated and unflinchingly honest. She moves effortlessly from wide- open jazz-tinged soundscapes\, influenced by Pharoah Sanders and John Abercrombie\, through to the folk- baroque fingerpicking style that her fans admire her for. Her singing is powerful yet warm\, true and pristine in delivery. The musicianship throughout the record feels liberated by Katie’s innovation and confidence\, and the result is a master-class of inspired and beautiful-sounding craftmanship. \n‘… a world-class folk guitarist’ – fRoots \n'Katie’s guitar playing has echoes of my dear friend the late great Bert Jansch. Like a musical weaver she\nthreads her poetic lyrics through the guitar’s strings and produces tapestries of song.' – Ralph McTell \n\nThe Washed Up Folk Band \n\nThe Washed Up Folk band hail from the misty shores of Essex and Suffolk with a unique brand of traditional folk story-telling and modern arrangements. \n\n“They intelligently weave together dynamic arrangements with rich vocal harmonies and insightful emotional depth\, creating a compelling listen.” – folk and honey.

SUMMARY:The Rabbitts + Evy Frearson
DESCRIPTION:Tickets £14.50 / £13.50 concessions.\nDoors open 7.30pm\, starts 8pm.This gig is for a seated audience.\n\nThe Rabbitts craft music that blurs the lines between folk\, alternative\, and atmospheric pop. Known for their delicate harmonies\, immersive arrangements\, and a sound described as “ethereal and understated” (BBC Radio 6)\, they create songs that feel both intimate and cinematic. Critics have called their work “hypnotic… crafting a meditative spell” (Obscure Sound) and “intricately lush and completely captivating” (Podcart). \n\nThe Norwich-based band began 2026 with an immersive and isolated creative retreat in the mountains. They now have a new album set for release on November 13th 2026. This show is part of their UK album release tour\, where songs from the new album will be performed for the first time alongside a few old favourites. This tour follows on from their 2025 tour which sold out multiple shows around the UK\, and the release of ‘Orbital Collection’\, a series of four EPs the band released over the course of 12 months. The Rabbitts are an ever-evolving group who are constantly creating and rarely staying still. \n\n“The Rabbitts approach folk and indie from an almost experimental perspective\, drawing from other genres with ease” – Analogue Trash \n\nhttps://therabbitts.bandcamp.com/\n\n\n\nEvy Frearson is a 22 year old British\, alternative floaty rock artist. Her writing and playing style is inspired by her love of the legends from the 90s and more contemporary sounds such as Jeff Buckley\, Yebba and John Mayer. Evy has already been played on national and international radio\, including BBC 2\, BBC 6\, BBC Introducing\, Future Hits\, CCR\, Phoenix FM\, Planet Rock and many others. They have all featured her music and supported her over the last couple of years. BBC 6’s Tom Robinson exclaimed “Evy has a deep\, rich\, immersive sound”.\nhttps://evyfrearson.com/

SUMMARY:Wonderful Wednesdays - SkelpieLimmer Productions & Brassneck Theatre Company: Anthem for Dissatisfaction
DESCRIPTION:Pay what you can afford \nDoors open 7:30 pm\, Show starts 8 pm\nThis show is for a seated audience\n\n"Songs aren’t just about love or breakups. They’re about desire. Gambling. Shouting. Being skint. Frustration. Love too. They’re about us. Me and her. This is our language\, our way of consistently telling each other: It’s alright mate I’ve got you! I get it!" \n\nThe Credit Crunch\, 2007. ‘Irish Twins’ Sarah and Jamie are growing up in Belfast with a shared obsession of music and the weight of parents on the breadline. Pop\, rock and punk rails against austerity Britain and an ever-failing Tory-government\, giving these siblings an epic score to navigate lives that are destined for different paths. \n\nOasis\, The Jam\, Springsteen and Sam Fender songs scream at the state of the nation\, tugging at the memories of what it means to grow up on benefits in a country where poverty became a punchline. Benefits Britain never sounded so good… \n\nA defiant “rip-roaring tour de force” fuelled by the music and people who speak to your soul and punch you in the gut. The multi-award-winning gig-theatre show Anthem for Dissatisfaction rejoices in working class strength with wit\, integrity\, and disarming honesty.

SUMMARY:Simon Yates of Touching the Void - My Mountain Life
DESCRIPTION:Tickets £22.75\nDoors 7.30pm\, talk 8pm\nThis event is for a seated audience\n\nA fascinating and humorous evening\, acclaimed by both regular theatre patrons and outdoor enthusiasts alike!\n\nOn the remote Siula Grande in Peru in June 1985\, mountaineer Simon Yates found himself in a desperately unenviable position. He was slowly being pulled off the mountain face by his injured partner\, Joe Simpson\, dangling on the rope 50 metres below. His decision to cut the rope saved both their lives in the epic of survival that followed and with the publication of the book ‘Touching The Void’\, later film and stage play\, both climbers became household names.\n\nIt was an experience that could have put many off the sport of mountaineering – but not Simon. Over 35 years later\, he is still a very active exploratory climber and guide\, making several expeditions to the mountains each year. From the Arctic to the Antarctic\, Alaska to Central Asia there is hardly a significant range that he has not visited.\n\nCome along and witness Simon’s tireless journey from that mountain in Peru to some of the remotest on the planet and share with him the drama\, excitement and beauty of modern\, lightweight alpinism. Told with wit\, dry humour and lavishly illustrated with images and film collected on his great climbs.\n\n“Simon is a totally engaging speaker\, who both entertains and inspires.”
