SUMMARY:Sheep! Μια ιστορία για το πού ανήκουμε
DESCRIPTION:A play about flocks and belonging\, told by a sheep who doesn’t know how to belong after she was sexually assaulted. To find her way back into the herd\, she weaves an off-beat comedic tale of sheep who are born\, loved\, and eaten – asking for it\, having such cute lambs – and go to space in search of the lost connection. \nSheep! is a dark and hilarious exploration of the hard feelings one goes through after a sexual assault\, told through the extended metaphor of sheep. A powerful\, weird and wonderful monologue that invites you into joy and resilience\, into the flock of soft\, fluffy and vulnerable sheep. \nWritten and performed by Jenni Nikinmaa\, a Finn living on a remote Irish island whose artistic works make hard-hitting points so gently it’s like being hugged by a sheep. Directed by Sarah O’Toole\, sound design Jack Cawley\, lighting design Órla Kelly-Smith. Dramaturgs Michael West & Hugh Farrell. Production funded by Galway Theatre Festival & Galway County Council. \nIf you are nervous about attending because of the theme or audience participation\, you can get to know the show beforehand via our audience guide. The guide includes details of the show and supports those who want to see the show but are worried if they can. It’s not a requirement to read to come and see Sheep! it’s just a measure of care while working on a sensitive topic! \nColchester Fringe Festival. SUMMARY:SadoMusical
DESCRIPTION:The sell-out festival favourite returns from an acclaimed tour spanning Wellington\, New Zealand to Brighton\, England. Now even better\, harder\, and art-er. It’s updated\, innovated\, and\, as always\, no two shows are ever the same. \nArt is pain. Pain is art. Two “definitely not masochistic” artists take on the challenge of a lifetime: to create musical comedy with feeling—while feeling the real pain of electrocution. \nIn what may be their worst idea yet\, veteran musical improvisers Lee Apsey (‘CSI: Crime Scene Improvisation\,’ ‘Your Flaws: The Improvised Musical’) and Jayda Fogel (‘Bird & Tax Collector\,’ ‘¡Horario Estelar!’) weave hilarious and sincere songs\, sketches\, and stories with the inspiration of the audience and the threat of being shocked\, shackled\, dunked\, and beaten with a stick. \nYou’ll be shocked\, and so will the players—literally. \nFrom the award-winning co-creator of multiple Edinburgh Fringe sell-out hit ‘CSI: Crime Scene Improvisation.’ \n“Astonishingly funny… brilliant concept.” ★★★★★ GJD REVIEWS \n“Apsey and Fogel turn painful displays into some of the funniest improvised comedy you can find. You will be begging for more\, and more\, and more.” FRINGE REVIEW \n“A very clever show by two outrageously intelligent and talented performers.” THEATREVIEW \n“Take someone you adore.” SCENE MAGAZINE \nWINNER – The Comedy Award – Colchester Fringe 2024 \nWINNER – Best Improv/Musical – Leicester Comedy Festival 2023 \nNOMINATED – Simply the Best – Gothenburg Fringe 2024 \nPlease note: The end time shown is an estimate. Please check with the venue for confirmation.

SUMMARY:Colchester Fringe Festival - FREE CRISPS
DESCRIPTION:Tickets £8 \nDoors 5.15pm\, show 5.30pm \nThis show is for a seated audience \n\nAge Guidance: 16+ \nContent Warnings: Audience Participation\, Distressing or Potentially Triggering Themes\, Flashing Lights\n \nFREE CRISPS! \n \nNow I have your attention. I’d like to talk to you (interspersed with a bit of dancing) about the magic that is the salt and vinegar hula hoop. Especially the BIG HOOPS. Not experienced this magic before? Well you better get yourself along to FREE CRISPS. \n \nFREE CRISPS is a contemporary dance and spoken word piece about how a tarot card reading\, sauerkraut and a degree in contemporary dance led me to realise how much I love salt and vinegar hula hoops and how they were the catalyst in breaking down the harmful ideology I had squirrelled away in the recesses of my overloaded brain. \n \nIt’s no big surprise that humans have created a very complicated relationship with food. Add to that training as a professional dancer in the early 2010s and you’ve got yourself a lovely little combination of being INCREDIBLY HUNGRY but not allowing yourself to eat bread? It does not add up to an enjoyable experience. \n \nThis solo explores the experiences leading up to this revelation through dancing\, a bit of chatting and even games – with prizes (bet you can’t guess what they are?). It’s silly and serious as it wanders through the peculiar way we have made a vital part of our lives – food – so so complicated.

SUMMARY:Mitch Benn is the 37th Beatle
DESCRIPTION:Mitch Benn is the 37th Beatle combines Mitch’s Scouse upbringing\, his love of music\, and a lifelong obsession with Liverpool’s most famous sons in one show. \nMitch Benn was born in Liverpool in January 1970. Three months later the Beatles broke up. Coincidence? Yes. \nMore than 60 years on from the release of Please Please Me\, Mitch once again explores the enduring legacy of the Fab Four and shamelessly milks his own (incredibly tenuous) connection to them. \nMitch Benn is the 37th Beatle is a glorious mix of spot-on Beatles parodies\, trivia and an endearingly personal account of his own claim to the title of ‘The Fifth Beatle’. \nColchester Fringe Festival. SUMMARY:Wait\, What is This?
DESCRIPTION:Wait\, What is This? is a fast-paced comedy written entirely in rhyme. Created and performed by Lydia Keating and John Harper\, the show began life as a five-minute rhyming sketch performed at cabaret nights in London\, Paris and Tallinn. Audiences kept asking for more — so naturally\, the pair wrote an entire 50 minutes of chaos. \nBlending clown\, physical theatre and rapid-fire rhyme\, the show begins innocently enough with a playful demonstration of rhyming words before spiralling into an increasingly absurd world of marital role-play\, counselling sessions\, medication adverts\, mistaken assumptions and ever-shifting realities. Just when audiences think they understand what is happening\, the story joyfully pulls the rug from under them and heads somewhere entirely unexpected. \nAt once playful\, ridiculous and strangely clever\, Wait\, What is This? delights in language\, theatrical invention and comic surprise. \nIn rhyme\, the show might best describe itself like this: \nCome\, have a gander at our comic two-hander!\nBrimming with raunchy\, riotous rhyme\,\nA plot so chaotic\, you’ll lose all sense of time.\nTangled twists meet metered bliss\,\nYou’ll leave gasping: “Wait… What Is This?” \nLydia Keating and John Harper met in 2022 while training at the International Theatre School of Jacques Lecoq in Paris and have collaborated ever since. Their previous show\, Clownfishing\, was performed at the Edinburgh Fringe and toured venues in the UK and Tallinn\, Estonia. \n*Please note there is no lift to access the top floor of Three Wise Monkeys. There are five flights of hand-railed stairs to reach the top floor with rest opportunities between each flight. Also\, their licensing does not allow anyone under the age of 18 years of age to be in the venue past 9pm. Please consider this when booking.

Along the way\, we build meaningful connections and community with like-minded people who care about creating a more just and inclusive world. \nLed by Solange Gulizzi\, an art and architectural historian and researcher exploring power\, gender\, and everyday lived experiences\, the club brings together academic ideas and real-life conversations in an accessible\, welcoming way. No prior knowledge is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to engage. \nThis is an inclusive\, welcoming\, and respectful space.  Whilst the group establishes itself it has decided to have women (and trans women) only.  This is due to some of the subject matters that have arisen.  This policy will be reconsidered but until then\, we hope you will respect this decision. We ask all members of our community to approach conversations with curiosity\, kindness\, and respect for others. We may challenge ideas\, but we always treat people with dignity. \nAs a safe and supportive space\, we want to hear your voice. SUMMARY:Ashes to Ashes\, Lust to Dust
DESCRIPTION:Daniel Casey is dead! Or at least his love life is… \nJoin us as we congregate at the hole-y Church of Homosexuality to remember a life gone too soon. With a eulogy befitting of such a degenerate: filthy\, vulgar\, and camp beyond belief\, this is not a funeral you are likely to forget any time soon. Performed by the only person up to the task\, himself\, Ashes to Ashes\, Lust to Dust\, is an all-singing\, some-dancing celebration of self-deprecating humour and an exploration of confidence and self-worth against a backdrop of the 21st Century gay dating scene. \nIn less than hour\, you will get to hear all of the funniest (and most embarrassing) stories of Daniel’s life. From terrible attempts at flirting to questionable hookups\, there’s a little bit of something here for everyone. But\, in and amongst the vulgarity\, is a real heartfelt message of learning to love yourself again and overcoming shame and self-hatred. \nWill you take away some profound message that will change your outlook on life? Eh\, maybe. Will you laugh until your sides hurt? Almost certainly. \nColchester Fringe Festival.
SUMMARY:Chris Young: World War Me\, the boy who starts wars with himself
DESCRIPTION:World War Me: The Boy Who Starts Wars With Himself \nSome people spend their lives fighting the world. Chris Young decided to cut out the middleman and fight himself instead. \nChris returns to Colchester with a hilarious and honest exploration of life lived between ambition and avoidance\, confidence and panic\, growth. \nWorld War Me is a one-man comedy about the battles raging inside all of us. Every insecurity becomes a dictator. Every ambition stages a coup. Every text message demands a full-scale diplomatic response. Inside Chris’s mind\, simple decisions become military campaigns and minor setbacks are treated like national emergencies. \nthis show explores what happens when the person holding you back and the person trying to move you forward are trapped in the same body. \nFunny\, heartfelt and gloriously self-destructive\, World War Me is about growing older without necessarily growing up\, searching for peace in a mind that keeps choosing war\, and discovering that sometimes the biggest obstacle to becoming the person you want to be is the person you’ve already become. \nThe enemy is within.

SUMMARY:(a play in a) DARK ROOM
DESCRIPTION:“Fuck you. Try all you want. We’re not going anywhere.” \nWORLD PREMIERE: In this visceral\, sensory-driven\, psychological thriller\, Davis the Janitor cleans up all sorts of bodily fluids at his night job in a dark room. Piss\, cum\, shit\, vomit\, poppers – no stain can scare off Davis\, the self-proclaimed “pig of pigs”… until a lingering violent threat forces Davis to confront the only stain he cannot clean. \n(a play in a) DARK ROOM is an intense\, disturbing\, often funny\, and unapologetically messy exploration of queerness. Written and performed by multi-award-winning-queer activist Dr.Pants\, the show blends autotheory\, multimedia visuals\, dynamic movement\, and an original electronic score to challenge respectability politics\, confront trauma\, and find hope. \nPerformer and writer Dr.Pants is critically acclaimed worldwide for the “sheer bravery” (Watermark News) in his writing and performance. He is described by critics as being “immeasurably talented” (Broadway World)\, “sharp\, quick\, and uncompromising” (GSCENE)\, and “bold\, brazen and stratospherically cheeky\, concealing beneath the girth of energy a good heart and a probing mind.” (Lost in Theatreland). Dr.Pants has single-handedly raised over £1000+ for LGBTQ+ charities worldwide\, including the WR1 Foundation\, The University of Essex’s Student Union\, LGBT+ Health and Wellbeing Scotland\, and the Center of Orlando. His play Pup Play won seven international fringe awards and a further five nominations. Dr.Pants was runner-up for Activist of the Year at the National Queer Student Awards.

SUMMARY:Antonio & Diego – desde Utrera
DESCRIPTION:No dancers. No spectacle. No concessions. Direct to Colchester from the ancient town of Utrera\, in the beating heart of Andalusia’s flamenco country\, come father-and-son virtuoso guitar duo Antonio & Diego. Both conservatoire trained\, they represent a rare evolution of the art: the flawless precision of the academy seamlessly combined with the “duende” of a storied lineage. Their performance burns with the raw emotion and intricate rhythms immortalised by Utrera’s flamenco royalty – Bambino (the “King of Rumba”)\, and the legendary Gitana sisters\, Fernanda and Bernarda. Through a haunting dialogue of voice and guitar\, Antonio & Diego navigate a range of traditional ‘palos’\, paying homage to the towering legacy of Paco de Lucía\, Paco Cepero and the hugely influential “rock andaluz” of Triana\, Lole y Manuel and Alameda. They don’t speak English; they don’t need to. Music is their mother tongue. This is flamenco straight from its source: direct\, intimate\, and uncompromising. A thing of rare beauty\, forged in the family home\, refined by years of study\, and seldom destined for export. \nColchester Fringe Festival.
