SUMMARY:Dacia Album Launch Party
DESCRIPTION:Tickets £10 in advance\, £12 on the door.Doors open 6.30pm. First band on 6.45pm.This gig is for a standing audience. \nAll tickets cover admission and a free copy of the Dismanibus Dacia album to be collected on the door. \nDismanibus\, local melodic death band and titans of the Essex metal scene\, are launching their magnum opus concept album ‘Dacia’ at the Colchester Arts Centre\, in what promises to be a night of truly epic aural brutality. “Dismanibus\, for those who have never seen them live\, are simply one of the most enjoyable bands you will see in the Essex area.” – Jack Fryer\, Metal Recusants. \nThe album follows the life story of a Dacian aristocrat\, later to be remembered as an infamous traitor\, Bikilis. From assisting his life-long friend and mentor\, Decebal\, in claiming the throne\, following the unexpected death of their king Duras\, we see them consolidate power among the Dacian tribes\, outmaneuver the Roman emperor Domitian\, to pressure Rome into signing a treaty on terms extremely favourable to the ascendant Dacian kingdom and begin to build Dacian fortifications across the lands north of the Danube. The story follows their early victories and subsequent changes in fortune with the rise of a new Roman emperor and seasoned general\, Trajan\, as he sets his sights on Dacian conquest. It closes on Bikilis’ descent into despair\, disillusionment\, betrayal and sorrow\, as the Dacian people find themselves on the receiving end of one of the only documented Roman wars of extermination… a harrowing reminder of what the civilised world is capable of in its quest for control of wealth and coveted natural resources. \nSupport will be provided by four of the best local metal acts in the scene today… \nOlympus – Melodic death metal forged in Essex fire. Old-school roots\, modern aggression. They tear through the boundaries like blast beats through bone! \nBy Virtue Fall – Progressive metalcore brimming with soaring melodies and brutal breakdowns for thinking headbangers! \nKillerkorp – Military-grade extreme metal: Slipknot meets Gojira with a dystopian message in every artillery-hit ri􏰀! \nDraugrheim – Nordic melodic metal: from mead-soaked feasting hall tunes to blood-drenched and vicious neck-snappers\, Draugrheim come to claim victory on the stages of all lands!

SUMMARY:Blue Rose Code
DESCRIPTION:Tickets £20.Doors open 7.30pm\, starts 8pm.This gig is for a seated audience. \nFollowing headline performances in ‘24 at Cambridge Folk Festival and Gate To Southwell with his nine-piece Caley Soul band as well as a sold out bravura show for Celtic Connections at Glasgow’s 1\,400 cap Pavillion Theatre\, Wilson has spent the last few months reconnecting with his roots in live club performance. \nTouringin 2025\, the shows have workshopped new songs for 2026’s new Blue Rose Code studio album. The direction of travel seems to be closer to the broad Scots Folk/Singer Songwriter style that brought him to work with the likes of Karine Polwart\, Beth Nielsen Chapman\, Ewan McGregor\, to write for Steve Knightley\, and open for heavyweights like Van Morrison\, Deacon Blue and the Proclaimers. \nTonight Blue Rose Code appears in duo format. \n“A set of almost religious intensity and sincerity. Wilson makes widescreen soul in the spirit of Van Morrison\, and was full of the holy fire of live performance” The Times \n“Ravishingly beautiful\, a burnished blaze of Caledonian Soul\, muted jazz and poetic recitation” UNCUT \n“Jubilant\, prayerful\, compassionate\, Caledonian soul maestro Ross Wilson’s latest iteration of his Blue Rose Code band sees his songs bursting with heart” The Scotsman \n“An expert ensemble\, led by Edinburgh singer-songwriter Ross Wilson\, brought the spontaneity and informality of an after-hours pub session to the Pavilion Theatre. The effect was both stirring and meditative” The Spectator \n“One of the moments of this year’s festivals. Nothing short of sublime” The Herald \nhttps://bluerosecode.com/
