The following course may be of interest to those wanting to retain quality in Colchesterâ€™s built environment.
Essex County Council are delivering a series of free Traditional Building Skills courses for the ‘Managing a Masterpiece’ Stour Valley Landscape Partnership.
The first course is on Timber Frame Repairs, and you will learn how to:
- Repair historic sole plates
- Repair studwork
- Prepare carpentry joints
- Choose the right timber
- Analyse the repair strategy
- Repair and renovate historic buildings using sympathetic, vernacular, traditional materials and techniques
The focus will be on increasing awareness of the need to continue working with traditional materials and in traditional styles to ensure the survival and continuation of built heritage.
