Keep Colchester Cool, in conjunction with Trotters Bar, presents the latest in a series of FREE events which showcase local acts who we think you should be hearing more of.
On Thursday 16th December it’s the turn of The Overwrought.
Formed in Colchester earlier this year, The Overwrought features Owen Bennett on guitar and vocals, Dom Stevenson on guitar, Joshua Greenley on bass and David Seddon on drums. The sound of the group is based around 70s punk, 80s New Wave, 90s Britpop and 00s indie.
The Overwrought are influenced by Manic Street Preachers, The Specials, Elvis Costello, Nirvana, Tom Petty and The Libertines. The band take on any subject with songs ranging from borrowing money off your mates for the next beer, getting in fights over girls to the American-led obsession with ‘celebrity’.
Come down on the night and grab a free copy of their debut EP, ‘What if This Doesn’t Change?’
In the meantime, have a listen to their MySpace
