Next Monday sees Colchester Folk Club’s last gig before the Easter break but it’s going to be a good one at Colchester Arts Centre with The Demon Barbers.

The Demon Barbers won Best Live Act at BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2009 and they are no ordinary folk band; combining bass guitar, drums, violin, melodeon, accordion, an English concertina along with a rapper.

I just love this fRoots review of them;

“Youthful, enthralling, charismatic, and with bags of attitude, The Demon Barbers combine solid traditional acoustic instruments and songs with the added oomph of a superbly tight rhythm section, making a unique and captivating sound. Energetic fiddle and passionate, distinctive vocals ‘with driven punchy tunes and songs, drum ‘n’ bass grooves, the odd touch of ska and an ever present feel that this lot know how to party’ result in ‘one of the most exciting acts around.”

Support on the night come via Mike Trim and doors open at 7.45pm on Monday 29th March. Tickets £10/8.
