If you are looking for ways to entertain your family in Colchester this half-term the Mercury Studio Theatre may have the answer, with two productions suitable for children:

Angel Exit Theatre Company presents The Secret Garden on Monday 13 February at 2pm & 7pm. Spoilt orphan, Mary Lennox, is plucked from the bright vibrancy of India and transplanted to a vast old house brimming with secrets on the grey Yorkshire moors. A hidden key unlocks the secret garden, but what will this unlock in Mary? Angel Exit’s brand new production is presented in their own rich visual style, blending ensemble storytelling with striking physicality, beautiful puppets, haunting songs and an original soundtrack. For children aged 6+ years.

Later in the week THEATR NA N’ÓG present Aesop’s Fables adapted by Keiron Self on Friday 17 February at 11am & 2pm. A Mouse, a Lion and a Tortoise tell some of the most famous fables involving wily wolves, dopey dogs, haring hares, flattering foxes and silly humans. As relevant now as they were centuries ago these bite-sized tales are presented with effervescent verve guaranteed to delight. For children aged 4 – 8 years.

Tickets, priced £8 / £6 children and concessions for both shows, are available from the Mercury Theatre Box Office on 01206 573948 and online at www.mercurytheatre.co.uk
