After the success of last year’s Easter Monday Ride Out, Birtoni Scooters in Barrack Street is organising another event, this time to coincide with Merc Clothing’s open day on Easter Monday, 5 April 2010.
Merc Clothing, which opened at 36 Eld Lane last year, is known worldwide for its classic British designs, from button-down shirts to Harrington jackets, and stays true to its heritage.
Merc Open Day
10am – 4pm, Easter Monday
Live music from 1.30pm featuring Colchester band The 633 and former FuzzFace frontman Ady Johnson.
Store manager Perry Haralambous and the Merc team will be offering free hot drinks, giveaways and 10% off all stock throughout the day.
Traditional barbers Something For The Weekend Sir?, based on Scheregate Steps, will also be providing classic haircuts, with profits from each cut going to charity.
Scooter Ride Out Details
The ride begins with a meet-up at McDonald’s on Cowdray Avenue at 9.00am, departing at 9.30am for Manningtree, where riders will stop at The Crown on the waterfront to meet Ipswich and Suffolk scooterists.
From Manningtree, the group will take the back roads to Harwich, riding past Great Oakley, Thorpe-le-Soken and Lower Kirby before heading to Walton-on-the-Naze for refreshments and a meet-up with Clacton scooterists.
The final leg returns to Colchester, riding down the High Street, turning into St Nicholas Street, along Long Wyre Street and into Eld Lane. Riders are asked to proceed carefully as Eld Lane is pedestrianised. Arrival at Merc Clothing is planned for 1pm.
