Colchester Castle is offering free* monthly tours focusing on LGBTQ+ historical figures and themes. Each tour promises a unique exploration of LGBTQ+ history, and no two tours will be the same.

These tours cover a wide range of fascinating topics, from Julius Caesar’s love for a Bithynian king to the stories of those imprisoned in Colchester Castle Gaol under accusations of sodomy. Participants will gain an understanding of how the historical and cultural context of different eras has shaped LGBTQ+ history. Suitable for ages 16+.

*The tour is free. If you wish to explore the museum afterwards, you must pay for entry or show your Museums Pass at the front desk.
