Exhibition Dates: 2nd November – 13th December

Start at Wivenhoe Cafe & Gallery with Boats and Birds, an exhibition by Colchester-based artist Lee Thomas. With a background in graphic design and illustration, Lee captures both the raw beauty and quiet poetry of nature in his seascapes, boats, and birds. Using a blend of digital and traditional media, he layers drawings, textures, and vibrant acrylics to create captivating scenes. His work invites viewers to see the world in a new light—whether through the intricate patterns of crumbling walls woven into his backgrounds or the delicate, free-spirited charm of birds in flight.

Oceana – Making Waves: A Collaboration of Two Artists

The Sentinel Gallery
Chapel Road, Wivenhoe, Colchester CO7 9DX

Exhibition Dates: 31st October – 17th November
Hours: 10am – 5pm daily (closed Mondays)

Oceana – Making Waves at The Sentinel Gallery brings together two artists inspired by the seaside: Alex Waylett, whose intricate textile work adds depth and texture, and Lorraine George, whose evocative paintings capture the coast’s timeless allure. Together, they celebrate the wonders of the sea, drawing on childhood memories of coastal discoveries – from pocketing seashells to marvelling at the endless shoreline. Their work combines the tactile allure of fabric with the rich colours of paint, creating an experience that resonates with the familiar joy of exploring the sea and shore.

Experience Art Along the Estuary

Both exhibitions offer unique reflections on the coast and share a common thread: a love for the sea and the treasures it brings.
