Pint of Science brings science talks to Colchester pubs, including Three Wise Monkeys, Dragonfly Lounge and Walkabout, from 18th-20th May 2026.
Science will be returning to Colchester pubs this May as the international Pint of Science festival brings researchers out of the lab and into venues across the city.
From 18th-20th May, scientists from across the region will give informal talks and demonstrations at Three Wise Monkeys, Dragonfly Lounge and Walkabout, covering subjects ranging from conservation and archaeology to artificial intelligence and digital identity.

Part of a global festival taking place in hundreds of cities across 25 countries, Pint of Science gives audiences the chance to hear about new discoveries in relaxed pub settings and ask questions directly to the researchers behind the work.
The festival offers a chance to hear directly from researchers working across science, technology, history and conservation – all in the informal setting of Colchester pubs.

Three Wise Monkeys hosts the Tech Me Out strand of the festival, exploring how technology is shaping modern life. Across the three evenings, speakers examine digital identity, the psychology behind online behaviour, and the technologies transforming industries from agriculture to marine exploration.

Walkabout hosts sessions exploring history and society. One evening looks at Colchester’s past through archaeology and metal detecting discoveries, including stories connected to the East Anglian witch trials. Another explores the human stories behind environmental change and wildlife protection along the Essex coastline.
