6.72°C Following a successful run of shows in 2017, Colchester’s very own Steve Lamacq heads back out on the road in May 2018 with more tales from his long career in the music industry. As a journalist, DJ, and, most of all, an avid fan, Steve has encountered many of the biggest names in music and has plenty of stories to share from his travels.
In his one-man show, Going Deaf for a Living, he invites the audience to contribute their own musical memories, ensuring a different dynamic every night.
Steve explained: “I was a bit nervous about doing this show, but we had such a lovely response from the people who came to the last dates that we’re doing a few more. It’s basically a night of selected stories from my time in the industry – interviewing Nirvana in a B&B in Shepherds Bush, following bands on tour, being handed the first Bloc Party demo outside the gents at the ICA… that sort of thing – plus some attempt to explain the madness we encounter the moment we fall in love with pop music and it starts infiltrating our lives.
“The only difference this time is that, rather than do theatres or comedy clubs, I really wanted to set the shows somewhere where they’d make sense, so this time all the gigs are at independent venues, the type of places I’ve spent much of my life in over the past 30 years.”
Steve’s tour kicks off with a home date at Colchester Arts Centre on Tuesday, 8th May 2018, with the run culminating in a London show at the legendary 100 Club.
