Thursday 3rd December 2010 sees DJ MK (Roots Manuva’s DJ, Kiss 100 and Extended Players), alongside A.Gee and the Bounce Brothers, spinning the very best in hip hop at the University of Essex in a special We Got Next… night celebrating the university’s newly refurbished venue.

DJ MK was the first UK hip hop DJ to release regular, professionally packaged mixtapes, many of which are now highly sought after. Those early releases helped secure him a slot on the Capital Rap Show alongside Tim Westwood between 1993 and 1995. After the Capital years, MK hosted a four-year run on Itch FM before moving to his long-standing weekly residency on Kiss FM with DJ Shortee Blitz.

He tours internationally with Roots Manuva and has judged the UK DMC Finals since 1999 and the World Finals since 2004. As a producer, he has worked with leading UK rap artists including Fallacy, Kyza, Loudmouth, Plan B, Mystro, Task Force, Roots Manuva and Yungun.

His Sunday night Kiss 100 show with Shortee Blitz has welcomed some of the world’s most respected rap artists and producers into the studio, further cementing his reputation as one of the UK’s most influential hip hop figures.

Tickets are £3 (NUS) and £5 (non-NUS), available via essexstudent.com and rapshack.co.uk. The event is expected to sell out quickly, so early booking is advised.
