Fump, the respected underground techno and tech house night, celebrates its first birthday in style on Saturday, 10 November 2012, with one of the true pioneers of techno, Joey Beltram.
Joey Beltram is widely acknowledged as a leading innovator in the early development of underground dance music. He began DJing as a hobby in 1983 at the age of 13, playing mostly early electro and hip-hop. He made the switch to house music in 1985 when the first wave of Chicago house hit New York City.
In 1989, he started releasing some of his early productions on several small New York record labels. A year later, he caught the attention of R&S Records in Belgium and, by mid-1990, released his first major record with the label, Energy Flash. Beltram soon followed with a string of equally impressive releases. Throughout the 90s, he created some of the most timeless tracks on some of the most cutting-edge labels of the decade. In 1999, he formed STX Records, which he continues to record for.
Also playing on the night are Adam Coley (Woo.ble Recordings), Lee Daines (Woo.ble Recordings), James Harrison, Laurence Reed, Andy Moore, Beatsworkin, Dutchie, Kev C and Andy Burr.
Taking place at The Judge and Jury and Tribal Underground, the event will feature two rooms of cutting-edge 4/4 powered by a Funktion-One sound system.
The night begins at 6pm to get things into full swing early. There will also be a session at the same location on Sunday, 11 November, starting at 11.11am and running until 5pm. DJs on Sunday include Gav Rayner, James O’Connell, LittleJoe and Adam Clark (Twisted Beats).
