Joyful Noise presents Unreported Music Tours’ Colchester African Music Weekend – three sounds over three nights from three African countries.
Infectious rhythms, soaring vocals and passionate harmonies are the hallmark of these artists and their groups from Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa.
All performances take place at Colchester Arts Centre.

Afla Sackey and Afrik Bawantu
Get ready to embark on a journey into the world of Ghanaian master percussionist and singer Afla Sackey and his 10-piece Afro-beat funk orchestra Afrik Bawantu.
Sackey’s orchestrations and compositions rejuvenate Ghanaian dance drumming and song, weaving melodies in Ga and English between explosive solos and dynamic horn phrases, lifted by funky guitar riffs and groovy bass lines.

Femi and The InRhythms
This seven-piece band from Lagos and London mixes the cerebral musicality of afrobeat with the visceral grooves of funk, underpinned by Yoruba-English vocal styles to create an eclectic, futuristic world dance sound.
