Sparky at SparkWrite reviews The Adventures Of Princess Millie, staged at the Headgate.

Get ready for an unforgettable adventure that the whole family will love! This spectacular show whisks you away on a thrilling journey alongside Princess Millie, Terrible Tommy and Gene the Genie as you encounter various characters like The King of the Jungle, a monkey, a ghost, a penguin, and even the Man on the Moon! Will they be able to find ‘The One’ to save Colchester Fringe Festival? Don’t miss out on this magical experience!

The story is based on the book ‘The Amazing Adventures of Princess Lola’ by Tim Strugnell, who played the penguin in the show. This performance was energetic, colourful and full of fun but important lessons about courage, trying new things and teamwork. The precious laughter from the children and parents was both infectious and heartwarming.

The costumes were great, and the whimsical set transported the audience to another world. The engaging audience interactions captivated children and adults, filling them with excitement throughout the performance. The actors from Stage Craft brought an incredible level of energy to the show, infusing every scene with a vibrant intensity that was truly captivating, and their enthusiasm radiated throughout the theatre.

I was really impressed with how the director (Richard Bland) got his own little role within the show as the Music Man, and I felt this gave the whole performance that extra pazazz.

The children and parents loved this show, and so did I!
