Dr Abbie Cairns

Abbie is an artist-teacher-researcher ​based in Essex. She practises art, teaches art, ​and uses art-based methods in research, ​workshops and mentoring and coaching.

Abbie’s Manifesto

To remember that I am an artist and teacher at all times and in all places. To recognise the little ​moments of practice each day, in the classroom or studio. To sketch more. To experiment with new ​ideas, materials, and equipment. To select the right opportunities and moments. To create ​continuously.

In this pop up shop Abbie presents a collection of text-based artworks created in 2024. The works draw words from her lived experiences and encounters. Abbie will have a range of work for sale including hand-printed postcard, mounted prints and framed prints. There will also be a collection of works on canvas board available to buy, as well as small-scale 3D word sculptures.
