Colchester Makerspace Social

May 02, 2024

A FREE monthly Open Workshop, a chance for current & potential members to come together and catch up.

Thinking of becoming a member and want to know more? Already a member and want to catch up with the others? Colchester Makerspace Socials are free of charge, include a short introduction to Colchester Makerspace, an opportunity to meet some of our members and associate artists and hear a short show-and-tell from our this month’s Maker of the Month Marie Coomber.

Marie fell in love with wheel thrown ceramics after joining Makerspace 15 months ago. She works in specialty stoneware clays and porcelain to make functional ceramics that aim to add a little something special to your everyday rituals. She is currently exploring how small alterations in form change an ordinary object into something that is far from ordinary.

This Social is part of a city wide programme called First Thursdays – a new monthly festival with events throughout Colchester city centre! The festival celebrates the city’s vibrant and diverse cultural scene, seeing venues across the city thrown open for the community, with fantastic performances, workshops and interactive experiences.
