Middlewick Guided Nightingale Walk #2
JOIN US Friday 24th May 7.30pm at the Speedwell Rd entrance – for the second Middlewick Nightingale Walk!
(Walk #3 on Sunday 26th 7.30pm if you can’t make this one, see other event page on Friends of Middlewick)
Recent surveys have shown Middlewick Ranges and surrounding habitats including Birch Brook and Weir Lane to support the largest Nightingale population in Essex. Well over 50 singing males have been recorded over three separate surveys!!
Join our experienced Nightingale surveyors on a short walk to experience the Nightingales of Middlewick in full song. Other birds such as Song Thrush will also be contributing to the dusk chorus.
There is nothing quite like the iconic Nightingale and their diverse entrancing song – supported in huge numbers by the sensitive habitats on Middlewick. We will also explain the conservation value and development threats to this precious population – which represents over 1% of all Nightingales in Britain!
Clothing: Dress warmly with suitable footwear. Bring a torch to the last half an hour.
Time: 7.30pm, Friday 24th May.
Location: Meet us at the Speedwell Road entrance to the Wick, opposite Wick Road.
(Please park with due consideration to local residents if you are driving)
