**POSTPONED** Gulf Futurism Talk
**EVENT POSTPONED DUE TO UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES. A new date will be announced shortly, please check back.**
Join us as we explore the ideas behind Gulf Futurism with curator Jess Twyman, who will talk about the ambitions behind Gulf Futurism in the context of our upcoming show, Farah Al Qasimi”s ‘Abort, Retry, Fail’ which opens at Art Exchange this autumn.
The term ‘Gulf-Futurism’ was coined by Qatari American artist and writer Sophia Al-Maria and Kuwaiti composer and artist Fatima Al Qadiri. It interrogates the region’s hyper-modernisation and industrialisation, arrival at a late-stage capitalist colonial imaginary, and the sense of betrayal felt by many local cultures.
The future has always been at the centre of artistic practice and this evening we explore the ideas and impulses behind Gulf Futurism.
Everyone welcome to attend this free talk!
