Reuse and Recycle: Make a Book

February 19, 2024 - February 21, 2024

From the beginning, the book and the bookbinder have made use of waste and recycled. The Rag and Bone man transformed rags for paper and bones for glue which is just one such example. Students will have the opportunity to examine old books to see the how and why of hidden examples of recycling.

From the folding of recycled paper in to sections, to the finished book, this Recycled Book course is intended to introduce participants to aspects of utilising as much recycled and up-cycled everyday rubbish and cast offs to make unique, handmade books.
Participants will make their own adhesive, paste boards and covering materials. It will be very hands on and potentially, gloriously messy.
