The Thunderbird Years: An Evening Of 1960s Film And TV Music
Prepare to be transported back in time with Colchester Castle’s upcoming musical extravaganza, The Thunderbird Years. Taking place on the evening of 6 June, the historic walls of Colchester Castle will reverberate with the iconic sounds of 1960s film and TV music featuring the iconic shows of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson performed live by the talented local Abbeygate Concert Band. The evening will also have special appearances from Mary Turner, Dee Anderson, Ronnie Le Drew, and more!
Mary Turner, the longest-serving member of the puppet teams from AP Films and Century 21, will be joined by Dee Anderson, who reprises her mother Sylvia’s role as the voice of Lady Penelope. Ronnie Le Drew, celebrated for his role as Zippy, will be our guest puppeteer. Adding to the nostalgia, the original Lady Penelope and Marina puppets will also star in the performances. For this special night, A. Parker will take the helm as our guest conductor.
Guests can soak up the atmosphere, grab a drink from the bar and explore the Thunderbirds And Co: The Joy of Puppetry exhibition before the concert begins at 7:15 PM. Seating will be spread around the castle galleries, strategically positioned to offer an immersive musical experience like no other. All you need to do is sit back and enjoy the journey through the unforgettable melodies that defined an era.
*Please note as the Castle is such a unique venue this could mean restricted viewing, but the acoustics will be amazing wherever you are seated!
