Rock legends Praying Mantis come to Colchester for a free gig on Saturday, 7th August 2010..
Formed in the mid-1970s by brothers Tino and Chris Troy, Praying Mantis became closely associated with the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) movement. Their debut album Time Tells No Lies received widespread critical acclaim and helped cement their place in the UK rock scene.
After managerial issues and a couple of name changes in the years that followed, the band reformed in 1990 with former Iron Maiden guitarist Dennis Stratton for a major NWOBHM festival in Japan. Since then, Praying Mantis have consistently released new material every two to three years, building a loyal international following and attracting new fans worldwide.
They play The Music Room at The Bull in Crouch Street following a successful tour of Sweden and ahead of an appearance at the Cambridge Rock Festival.
This is a rare opportunity for Colchester rock fans to see one of Britain’s enduring heavy rock acts, a band that continues to perform to large audiences worldwide.
