On Saturday, Funky Hat Promotions returns to Truth Nightclub with May The Truth Be With You – a night of house music featuring DJs Paul Woolf, Kev B, Ben Wood, Darren Shambhala, Andi King, Joe, and live percussion from Bongo Ted.

The Wicked Ravens play the evening session at The Victoria Inn on Sunday. Blending rock and roll, dirty marsh music, psych rock, and a dash of Essex country blues, this genre-bending band always deliver a great, energetic set.

From Monday to Wednesday, Pint of Science returns to the city, offering nine fascinating talks from leading local scientists across three evenings. Held at Coda, The Castle Inn and The Dragonfly Lounge, the programme covers everything from atoms and galaxies to society and human behaviour. No prior knowledge needed – just curiosity.

Rosalie Cunningham plays Colchester Arts Centre on Tuesday, showcasing her third solo album, To Shoot Another Day. Known for her dazzling psychedelic rock and theatrical flair, she’s supported by improv psych-drone group Valhallans.

Wednesday offers a creative outlet for young music lovers at Firstsite with Mini CLIP – a free weekly music tech workshop for ages 11-14. No booking or experience is required, so turn up and make some noise.
Runs 4-5pm (during term time).

Call it Love continues on Friday at Art Exchange, University of Essex. Curated by MA Art History students, the exhibition explores love as radical care and political expression. Through contemporary artworks and archival material, it reimagines intimacy, chosen families, and connection. Featured artists include Anna Maria Maiolino, Marina Abramović, Chloe Jones, Charan Singh, Soula Oluode, and Daisy Blower.
Opens at 11am. Free entry until 23rd May.
