Following last year’s inaugural contest, Essex bands unite once again at Colchester Arts Centre for the grand final of Undiscovered, the county-wide live music competition.

Taking place on Saturday 20 November, the four finalists earned their place after progressing through an initial selection of more than 80 artists, followed by two live heats.

The Finalists

LTK
A grime/alternative outfit blending rock and funk influences, LTK formed in Romford in 2008. They recorded their seven-track EPA Purple Sky, in 2009, and have since released a promotional video for More Than a Friend, along with a further EP, Packing Heat Like Summertime, recorded at Escape Route Studios.

The Fifty Fours
Formed in 2009, The Fifty Fours have built a reputation for high-energy live performances. After recording their debut EPSecrets and Sketches, at JAM Studios in Rayleigh, they went on to perform at major venues including The Bridgehouse 2, The Camden Barfly, and The Relentless Garage. Their sound combines raw vocals, soaring guitar lines, tight harmonies and powerful rhythm sections.

Reachback
An explosive four-piece pop-punk band formed in late 2008, Reachback are fronted by Ruby Williams. The band quickly gained attention, supporting acts such as Attack! Attack! and In Case Of Fire. In 2010, they signed professional management terms and secured a development EP deal with SMG Records.

The Ends
Formed in a converted warehouse in January 2009, The Ends have been gigging steadily across Essex, winning two Battle of the Bands competitions. Their debut EP Dealing With… was released as a free download.

Special Guests

Recently signed Southend band Redtrack will also make a special guest appearance. Known for their sharp alternopop sound, they have worked with Pete Shelley of The Buzzcocks and gained exposure on Hollyoaks. Their album Whole Town’s Heart is out now on Label Fandango.

Project manager Tony Morrison said the contest highlights the wealth of musical talent across Essex, pointing to the success of previous guest band Missing Andy on Sky One’s Must Be The Music.

Tickets are £6 and available via the Colchester Arts Centre website.
