This Saturday, 2nd November, Keep Colchester Cool and Colchester Arts Centre brings you the fourth instalment of Colchester’s Sound, a night dedicated to showcasing artists who are shaping the local music scene.
Here’s what to expect on the night at Colchester Arts Centre.
Lost Movies
An indie rock six-piece, Lost Movies brings together members from Colchester bands Absent Kid, Nothing Existed, and Warm Winters. Reunited with an expanded lineup, they’re back with fresh material, reworked favourites, and a darker, revitalised sound. Drawing on influences like The Cure, Manic Street Preachers, and Pavement, their music weaves intricate, moody vibes with an edge. As Underground Sound puts it, “Contagiously awesome stage presence and intricate tunes – not to be missed.”
The Audacity
Recently returning from a hiatus, The Audacity may have a new name (many will remember the great Karilla), but their soul and passion for music remain stronger than ever. Known for their unapologetic energy and raw sound, they bring an intensity that promises to ignite the stage.
Grace Calver
Singer-songwriter Grace Calver brings tongue-in-cheek indie pop with lyrics that capture life’s highs, lows, and laughable disasters. Grace has shared stages with The Lottery Winners, Alfie Templeman, and more, and has played festivals like Latitude. Named “One to Watch” by BBC Introducing Suffolk & Norfolk, she’s gained airplay across UK stations, including BBC Essex and Amazing Radio.
The Brothers El Camino
The Brothers El Camino emerged when music and football were the go-to escapes in a town craving its own cultural identity. Thirty years after their last gig and final match, they’re reuniting to bring their classic Americana sound back to the stage. A solo outing from David of The Brothers El Camino will open the night at this show.
The night also features Keep Colchester Cool’s Ben Howard, who will be on DJ duties between sets.
Tickets are £7, and doors open at 7.30pm.
The unofficial after-party takes place at Twisters Bar, which is open until 1am.
