The acts performing on the Castle Stage of Colchester! Free Festival have been announced, following on from the Main Stage line-up confirmed one week ago.

Ady Johnson, Lady Bird & The Larks, Greg Blackman, Rev Simpkins & The Phantom Notes, The Jazmine Ava Band, The Medlars, Ghost Train Porters and Ellie Cornell provide the soundtrack to the stage that backs on to Colchester Castle.

Colchester! Free Festival takes place in Castle Park between 11am and 7pm on Saturday 18th September 2010.

The festival forms the finale of Colchester! a week of grassroots celebration and events featuring   music, art and culture taking place in venues throughout the town, from Monday 13th through to Saturday 18th September.

The Castle Stage line up offers an alternative to the Main Stage   bands consisting of  New Town Kings, Angry Vs The Bear, Cav OK, Housework, Vellocetta, The Kuru Smile, Top Deck All Stars, Manic Minor, and The Kipling Conspiracy. DJ support on the Main Stage comes from GrownSoul and Colchester legends DJ Gilly and Jeff Scott.

However, there’s still a chance for the Colchester acts who applied to play the festival but have not made the Main or Castle Stage line-up to be involved in this landmark event. Festival organisers will be placing 2 ‘Busk Stops’ in the Park which will allow an additional 20 performers or acts to be involved on the day and there will be gig opportunities every night of Festival week from Monday 13th through to the after Festival parties on the 18th.

Festival organiser, Ben Howard of Keep Colchester Cool said “It’s been a really tough decision but we’ve decided upon a Festival line-up that reflects some of Colchester’s musical successes over the past year. We would like as many acts as possible to be involved in the festival and we’ve still got the Busk Stop, Eclectic Garden Party and Music Workshop line-ups to be announced.”
