New Town Kings and Angry Vs The Bear have been announced as co-headliners of the main stage at the one day music and arts festival taking place in Castle Park between 11am and 7pm on Saturday 18th September.
The festival forms the finale of Colchester! a week of grassroots celebration and events featuring music, art and culture taking place in venues throughout the town, from Monday 13th through to Saturday 18th September.
New Town Kings, a popular 9 piece Ska/Reggae band will grace the festival stage with their blistering live set featuring their own unique, energetic sound with influences from classic Ska, Punk and the Two Tone era. 2010 has seen the band please crowds at venues and festivals around the country, including a sell out gig at Colchester Arts Centre. New Town Kings are currently recording their second album which will be released in time for the festival.
Angry vs The Bear will bring frantic, noisy, fizzy electro pop punk to the festival and will play in Colchester in the middle of a six week UK Tour. So far this year the eccentric quartet have toured extensively, including the SXSW festival in Texas (for the second year running), and released their debut single Show Emotion which was Pick of the Week on Huw Stephens’ Radio 1 show.
Joining the headliners on the main stage in Lower Castle Park will be Cav OK, Housework, Vellocetta, The Kuru Smile, Top Deck All Stars, Manic Minor, and The Kipling Conspiracy. DJ support on the Main Stage comes from GrownSoul and Colchester legends DJ Gilly and Jeff Scott.
Music fans will also experience live music on the second stage which will be located in Upper Castle Park, and from ‘Busk Stops’ throughout the Park and via the various Music Workshops that will be taking place.
