When Teseo goes to meet his fate in the jaws of the monstrous Minotaur, little does he know that his greatest test is still to come, not finding his way through the labyrinth, but finding his way through a chaotic web of romantic entanglements, jealousy, and court intrigue. Pursued by Princesses Fedra and Ariadna, our divine hero finds himself lost in a love triangle that somehow keeps adding sides as masked balls and secret nightime trysts add yet more turns and dead ends. Meanwhile, mad King Minos’s insatiable desire for revenge threatens to turn this rom-com into a tragedy…

Written by renowned Mexican writer, philosopher, and nun, Sor Juana de la Cruz, this is the first ever UK production of Juana de la Cruz’s popular seventeenth century play Love is the Greater Labyrinth. The re-telling of the classical Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur is told in the Spanish comedia tradition, blending high-stakes adventure and potential tragedy with comic farce, mistaken identities, masquerades, and witty theatricality.
