One actor. Two Edgar Allan Poe classics.
That’s the idea behind One Man Poe, Stephen Smith’s award-winning solo production coming to the Mercury Theatre Studio as part of this year’s Colchester Fringe Summer Weekender.
Performed entirely by Stephen Smith using Poe’s original nineteenth-century text, the show brings together The Black Cat and The Raven in an atmospheric hour of storytelling.
“You don’t need to know Edgar Allan Poe to enjoy the show,” Stephen said. “His stories are gripping, psychologically rich and remarkably modern.”
“It’s the perfect introduction to Poe for those discovering his work, while fans can experience the stories as if for the very first time.”
Stephen created One Man Poe in 2021 and has since performed it around the world, with productions in New York, Los Angeles, Baltimore, Dubai, Malaysia and Italy, alongside consecutive sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe.
The production has also received a string of awards, including Best Overall Show at the Edinburgh Fringe Derek Awards and Best Horror Solo Show at the Spookies Awards.
One Man Poe will be performed at the Mercury Theatre Studio on Friday 24th July and Saturday 25th July as part of the Colchester Fringe Summer Weekender.
