Rock Choir’s Rocking the Folly! brings singers from 10 choirs across Essex and Suffolk together in Colchester for a special performance at the Colchester Fringe Summer Weekender.

The concert takes place in The Minories Garden, with choir members travelling from Colchester, Chelmsford, Great Dunmow, Brentwood, Leigh-on-Sea, Wickford, Braintree, Sudbury, Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich.

Expect familiar songs, big harmonies and a relaxed summer evening in the open air at The Minories Garden.

For choir leader Hollie Heard, it’s as much about bringing people together as it is about the music itself.

“We’re performing in the most stunning venue, and it’s going to be a really lovely evening with family and friends,” she said.

“It’s our first time performing in the beautiful garden at The Minories, so we’re really excited.”

Hollie hopes the audience won’t just listen.

“It will be a joyous, feel-good evening,” she said. “We’ll try to get people involved singing or clapping along. Our ultimate goal is to make people feel good and spread joy through music and singing. We want to put a smile on their faces.”

Founded in 2005 by award-winning musician Caroline Redman Lusher MBE, Rock Choir has grown into one of the UK’s largest contemporary choir organisations, welcoming people of all musical abilities, with no auditions or need to read music.

Rock Choir performs at The Minories Garden on Sunday 26th July as part of the Colchester Fringe Summer Weekender.
