Dave and Fiona Richards of The Bull, Colchester have today announced that as of the 31st of July 2016 they will not be renewing their lease at The Bull.

The statement says
“It will be a very sad day for ourselves after 9 years of creating a fantastic venue in Colchester. We have seen some amazing and talented musicians come through the doors and go onto bigger and better things. The support that you have given us has been phenomenal.

At this moment in time we cannot say what will happen to The Bull but we hope that the next tenants will continue with what we have created along the way.

We would like to say a massive thank you to all our customers, bands, hosts and staff whom without you all this legacy would not have been possible.

Until the 31st, everything will continue as normal.

Dave and Fiona Richards”

Personally, I have lost count of the amount of great nights I have put on at The Bull, whether as gig organiser for “Keep Colchester Cool presents” or as a DJ there. I would like to thank Dave and Fiona for their support of the music scene in the town and I wish them the very best for the future.

I’ve seen the Bull develop tremendously over the years and had the privilege of playing there as Undercover many times. Dave and Fiona have always been extremely helpful, to the point of installing the football just for the band in the Soundhouse, to offering us PA and always spending some time to have a chat. They’re both lovely people and a great business team. They’ve developed the pub into a hub for live music through hard work and determination and have to be applauded for that. It will be a sad day when they leave but I hope the new tenants continue with their legacy.
