The Good Beer Guide 2015, published by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), names Colchester’s The Victoria Inn as one of the UK’s top 16 pubs.

Described in the guide as: “A warm welcome waits at the local CAMRA and Essex County Pub of the Year for 2014. Five real ales are on handpump, from both local and smaller brewers around the country, one usually being a darker ale, plus up to nine real ciders. A large courtyard caters for alfresco drinking and also hosts the annual beer festival.”

The North Station Road pub was judged against numerous other local branch winners and was deemed the best in the East Anglia region overall, offering the perfect mix of the essential characteristics that make a great pub: atmosphere, décor, welcome, service, value for money and customer mix – but most importantly, quality real ale.
