That Knave, Raleigh – Mercury Theatre, Colchester
Award-winning Dyad Productions return to the Elizabethan era with That Knave, Raleigh, created in collaboration with The Old Town Hall, Hemel Hempstead.
The production follows the extraordinary life of Sir Walter Raleigh, exploring the explorer, sailor, writer, poet, soldier and adventurer through his dramatic rise and fall during the reigns of Elizabeth I and James I.
Drawing directly on the historical record, the play looks beyond the familiar stories of Raleigh to explore the final chapter of his life and the events that shaped a legacy spanning centuries.
That Knave, Raleigh is written and performed by Andrew Margerison and directed by Rebecca Vaughan.
The production is performed in the Mercury Studio on Wednesday 7 October 2026 at 7pm. The running time is approximately 1 hour 15 minutes with no interval, and age guidance is 12+.
